A Girl Scout Silver Award Project Bringing Yoga to the Community.

Last Updated 8/2/2023

Have you heard about the Girl Scout Silver Award project. It's a pretty cool thing that Girl Scouts can do to make a positive impact on their communities. The Girl Scouts introduced the Silver Award in 1980. It's a recognition for girls who are in middle school and have shown leadership skills and a desire to make a difference.

The Silver Award project is all about taking action and addressing an issue that the girl cares about. It's like their chance to become a real-life superhero!

The history of the Silver Award is rooted in the Girl Scout movement, which has a long and proud history of empowering girls and young women. The Girl Scouts organization was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912 with the goal of fostering courage, confidence, and character in girls.

The Silver Award project is a great opportunity for Girl Scouts to develop valuable skills such as leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork. It also helps them build confidence and a sense of achievement as they see their ideas come to life and make a positive impact.

I am honored to have had the opportunity to mentor one of my students through her Silver award project. Mackenzie from troop 782 brought yoga to the Armed Forces Community Pavilion Garden located at 995 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA. 95603

Go check out the garden, when you get there, look for the Yoga in the garden sign on the deck. Scan the QR code and follow along with the guided yoga tour through the garden. Mackenzie chose all the locations and poses to use, took and edited all the pictures. Mackenzie did a great job leading this project. We hope this brings joy to all who come!
